Getting a Freestyle running that sat for several years

Post by bwmatz » Sat Jun 01, 2019 2:22 pm

We have a 2007 Freestyle that sat in our driveway for over three years. I need to get rid of it. Just put new tires on it, new brake rotors and pads, new battery, new oil and filter and new air filter. When I try to start it now, it won't even turn over. Is there way to manually turn the engine to see if it is seized? Any other ideas?

Any chance that where it was sitting, mice or critters have nibbled on the wiring insulation? Do you have dash lights when turning the key to "on"? Hear a clicking sound, or just silence when turning the key to start? New battery has at least 12.80v across the terminals?

I can hear the starter trying to engage but it seems as if it can’t turn the engine.
