2005 Freestyle AWD rear parking brake cables

Post by YellowJacket » Tue Jan 08, 2019 10:13 am

It seems the *2005* Freestyle with AWD had unique left and right rear parking/emergency brake cables that changed for the '06 and '07 model years, and are no longer available from Ford (only the front cable can be bought at the dealer). When I previously had to replace the left rear cable I could not find a new one in the US that was compatible, ordered one out of Canada that I found out would not fit, and wound up getting a used cable off a junk yard cable that was not seized. Now I am in the position of having to replace the right rear cable.
Does anyone have any experience sourcing new, rear parking brake cables for the '05 model year with AWD. The "universal left/right '05-'07 " won't cut it.

Di d you have any luck find one. I am in the same boat. I can't find an intermediate parking break cable for a 2007 freestyle. Ford stopped making them and I can't find one anywhere part# 9f9z2a793-c. Junk yards don't even have them the car runs great otherwise. I have a friend of a friend living in AZ looking in junk yards.

Check with Elizabeth in the parts department at Dannemora Ford in upstate New York. 518-492-2525. Super sweet to deal with. 10% discount. She had the last two rear cables in the country for my 2005 (unique to that year). She said they have a lot of new old stock parts, including for the Freestyle! Good luck.
