Inner Rear Well Liner Replacement

Post by Scotty17 » Thu Aug 23, 2018 11:40 am

2005 AWD SEL

I notice the other day that the rear drivers side inner wheel well
liner is falling apart, does anyone know the best way to fix this.

Is there a liner replacement available or is this just undercoating that FORD used.

Thanks

Scott

Thanks for the update, going to head over to my local body shop to see what
they will charge to re-undercoat also notice the other side starting to fall apart as
well.

Will see if they can use the rubberized type which holds up better.

Just get 4 1/2 grinder from harbor freight and wire brush attachment. Safety glasses of course. Knock the loose stuff off. Then apply some under coating. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/3m- ... /7141477-P

$50 to $60 to buy everything need to do yourself. I been meaning to do mine but I'm fine with it the way it is. Miles are going to kill the car before the wheel well rust out.

Yea mine just started doing that at 160k. Heat a putty knife with a butane torch scrape it off. Then wire wheel it, rust encapsulate it then prime then Paint then undercoat.

If you are real squirrely remove, wire wheel, clean, wire wheel, clean wire wheel again, POR15 metal prep, POR15, topcoat POR15 then undercoat.

Search the forums deems like rust belt and Canadian cars (?) Like rotting the inner wheel houses up
