RSS beepers don't work

Post by Wheelman » Sun Jun 03, 2018 10:22 pm

Why don't my RSS beepers work. The #12 10 amp fuse is good.

Put your car in reverse with the key on, engine off. Then go back and put your ear up to each sensor and listen for a clicking sound when you put your hand up to the sensor. If you hear that, the sensor is good.

Ok. I did a while ago and each sensor does the clicking so I would assume the wiring to each sensor is also good otherwise they wouldn't click with no power. However, I still have the amber light in the switch and no beeping sound when back close to something, so I still need help. How do I remove the switch to see if it is good. Thanks so far anyway.

I am thinking your RSS module is no good. It's up on the package shelf on my son's Taurus, but not sure where it is located on the FS. My son's went bad as well after a rear-end accident (shorted?). I just put in a backup camera instead of replacing it.

Ours stopped working a couple of years ago for no good reason. The module is on the right side pillar near the roof right behind the rear right door. I never fixed ours but here is the info I found - and still didn't fix mine. I also just swapped the stereo and have a backup camera now. Hope this info helps. :)

I already had this info but thanks anyway. This is really confusing and impossible without proper tools.

Find a You Pull 'n Pay place and hope for the best. All you should need is the module itself. One of these is a heck of alot easier to do and forget about the factory one. I have these on 2 different vehicles and love them! Can't beat it for $15!!!

Wow, that sounds like a plan. I was considering something like that. Thank you Splicer.

As determined as I am I have now removed the wiring harness, beepers and all t0 the first disconnection which then goes into the interior of the car. It was not that hard once I figured out how things are released. So now I have total access to the beepers and they are all crackling (working) when a finger is in front of one and near my ear, but the system is still not working and the light in the shut off switch is still on. So what now?

Once again, the issue is the module behind the right rear door on the pillar near the roof. That is what needs to be replaced.

Can you tell me with certainty that this is the problem. I'd hate to ge the part and find out that was not the problem. Thanks again.

Well, considering there is NOTHING ELSE IN THE SYSTEM, yes. You have power, so the switch is working correctly, the sensors have power and are working correctly, leaves the module that controls everything.

Well, there was one more thing, the speaker was at fault. Got another speaker and now everything works fine. I know where to get parts now.
