What The Heck???!!!

Post by pmassey31545 » Mon May 07, 2018 6:39 pm

I posted HERE less than a year ago about the same issue I am having again. What prompted it the first time was...I thought...Me frying something by shorting something when I hooked up my HID headlights.

But today, I was getting the car ready to sell and removing the headlights. So as a precaution I disconnected the battery. Removed the headlamps. Installed the halogen. Started the car and again...no gas pedal response. I didn't read the codes or anything because I was soooooooo PO'ed. I called the shop that did the work last time and had it towed over. Thankfully they're great people and told me the part is still under warranty and would keep the labor free or very cheap.

My question is...does it do this with every friggin battery swap? Is there some battery disconnect procedure I don't know about for these cars? I actually had the car sold today but had to hold off because of this issue. I can't sell this thing to someone knowing it craps out when you disconnect the battery. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Weird!

We have had the battery changed a couple of times, no issues. I guess there is a drop in power drain swapping out the antique bulbs with LEDs ...

Maybe. But both times...when I installed and when I removed...it has screwed something up.

Last time it needed an ECM. But no explanation yet this time. They're taking their sweet time. Haven't even looked at it. Been a week and a half.

Well. I am so PO'ed right now. Car sat at the shop for almost 2 weeks.

They never called me to tell me what the problem was until today. And the call went something like this:

Mr Massey, your car is ready. It needed a throttle body. It'll be $750!!!!

That guy will never get one of my vehicles again. Any mechanic that fixes and then gives you a price is a piece of trash.
