Radiator Replacement Tutorial?

Post by oneil406 » Mon Apr 23, 2018 12:30 pm

Anyone have leads on a handy radiator replacement tutorial? Car took a nosedive into a ditch and didn't fair so well. Thinking I'm going to need to replace the radiator supports along with the radiator...fun couple days ahead.

Several years ago I took off the radiator to clean the mosquitoes. But for some reason I had to do it not by instructions. I removed the radiator along with the cvt radiator (either it was easier together, or I wanted the cvt radiator to rinse too)
Electric Engine Fan
Removal & Installation:
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Disconnect the 2 coolant hose retainers from the fan shroud and position aside.
Disconnect the cooling fan motor electrical connector.
Remove the 2 cooling fan motor and shroud bolts and release the cooling fan motor and shroud from the lower brackets.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Remove the 2 radiator support bracket bolts.
Remove the 2 radiator support brackets and position the radiator forward.
Remove the transmission cooler bracket bolt.
Lift the transmission cooler.
Remove the radiator.

To install:

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Tighten the condenser, radiator bracket and transmission cooler bracket to 53 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
Fill and bleed the cooling system

By 'radiator' you mean the A/C condenser, right? That's what Im looking at in your picture. The cooling radiator is behind that. In order, looking at the front, there is that condenser, the transmission (CVT) cooling radiator, which is up high and only 1/2 the size, and probably not damaged, and then the engine cooling radiator.

Dont forget to have the freon removed from the A/C condenser and system before you try to remove the connecting lines to that 'radiator'.
