Gray piece is pcv valve... Black piece is suppose to stay in upper intake.. Gray piece should turn out of black piece counter clockwise. Black piece is not available as separate purchase it appears on ford parts web site.

Can you put black piece back in upper intake? Did it crack? If so can you just rough up surfaces and just jb weld the part back to the upper intake? Being careful not to get in area valve needs to go in.

Why are you replacing... Part should not wear out... May need cleaned if oil sludge.... But if you change oil in car should not be issue.

Hello Dan, I have a Check engine Light, And ran it for codes and it was coming back as P0174, Which my Freestyle was Running Lean. I checked all of my Vaccum Lines everything was good, Pulled that one off the top and it just came right out, The Black piece came with it came right out and it was broke yeah all sides were chipped off besides one side. Also I tried taking the black Piece off and it would not come off.

Sorry I gave you bad info. I looked on the ford web site and I thought went into upper intake. It goes into the RH camcover. Hopefully you got the pieces that broke off out. As they can fall into the cover/engine area. Have to pull upper intake and camcover to get pieces out if they fell in.

I looked at this picture thinking it was going into the upper intake which it shows upper intake and cam cover.
https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/valve-assy-6287683-1

This link is the camcover. 6582 part in picture.
https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/cover ... -6329993-1

This is link to camcover and PCV valve asy for sale on ebay for $50 shipped.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-2007-Merc ... fT&vxp=mtr

Or search RH Valve Cover Ford Freestyle and it will come up if link does not work.

So appears you can NOT buy that pc. Ford sells you the entire camcover for $123.

Hope this helps. Sorry for your pain.

Rockauto most cost effective. $30 for Front and Rear Gasket along with 6 spark plug gaskets on close out.

On Ebay.. OEM Gaskets Just for Rear. $50
OEM RH Camcover Gasket is 6F9Z-6584-AA about $20.
OEM Spark Plug Gasket 6F9Z-6C527-AA about $10 x 3 = $30

Don't forget your black gasket maker as well. I just change my front camcover gasket a couple months ago.

May want to change your spark plugs as well while you have the upper intake off.

Yes I believe same one you had link.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/for ... sket,10710

You want ultra.. Grade they make general grade. Ultra is for auto applications. In auto area of walmart. But they have both grades next to one another. I accidentally grabbed wrong one in past did not realize until I got home was in wrong bin on store.

I have 185k on my daily driver... Looks like good time to change your back spark plugs out too then.. Only 92k..

Good luck...

I don't believe the pics represent actual parts.

Could purchase from advanced auto and use $20 off discount code internet search to find code buy online w store Pick up. I used this brand on 1 car and oem on another. About $55 + tax
