Wiper Blade Replacement Passing Over Above Glass

Post by Scotty17 » Fri Jan 12, 2018 9:43 am

05 Freestyle SEL

I needed to replace my Wiper blades for both sides with the correct size replacement
24 Driver Side and 20 Passenger Side. I am noticing that on the drivers side when the wiper passes
over the windshield its about two inches above the glass.

Any ideas on why this is happening.

I found out that who ever had the car before be switched the wiper arms to the wrong sides.

I switched them everything looks good now.

Couple of things could be happening:

1. The spring is weak on the arm, it requires spring tension to put the blade to glass evenly.

2. The blade arm is not at the correct "rake" or angle to the glass, usually about 2 degrees. I actually have a tool to clip into place that has a protractor that you can bend to the correct rake.

3. Blade and/or glass is dirty full of grime or torn blade.
