Rear Windshield washer line location - Leak/missing

Post by Fuzzball » Sat Nov 25, 2017 5:54 pm

Hi all,

My 08 Taurus X has a missing hose from the Windshield Washer bottle to the squirter in back. The lines for front and back come off the bottle and up then get directed to the firewall area. Right under a brace, the one going to the front takes a turn and the one that feeds the back has no rubber hose connected. I don't see any hose that "came off".

I'm going to try to get a picture, but has anyone heard of or seen this?

When I use the rear washer, the fluid just ends up under the vehicle at the front passenger area.

thanks for any hints,

Kevin

Have you searched for a thread on this site about the rear window washer lines? I ask because I vaguely remember this topic coming up before and someone posting either the diagram or a link to the diagram of how the hose is run. You will need to find out how much of your rear hose remains and replace the missing part, but it helps if you know the route that the hose takes.

Hi pwschuh,

I did look for something, but didn't seem to find anything. I'll try again since you remember something being here.

Appreciate the reply,

Kevin

Hi pwschuh,

I found the thread you mentioned and had found it before, but it didn't help:

I'm going to upload some pics here in a minute, I just have to reboot to get my phone and PC talking again.

Here is the original problem I had, but I've since corrected.

In the second picture, the disconnected line actually goes under the black cross bar. I couldn't see anything to connect to the line in the area, but when I reached down about 10" below the line, I found a rubber hose just hanging. I connected it to the plastic tube shown and it now sends water to the rear window.

I had the same problem, though the pressure of the fluid pumping through the line blew it right off the coupler again. A few wraps with electrical tape did the trick.

Kevin,

I had the same issue on my 05 SEL AWD, you need to pull of the molding from the passenger side A pillar and reach behind the glove box there is a hose attachment there mine got disconnected somehow
you might want to clue it together after re-attaching mine it came loose after a while.

Hope this helps

Scott
