Control arm torque specs?

Post by syllinx » Fri Oct 06, 2017 5:28 am

I have to replace the control arms on a 2006 freestyle and I lost the repair manual about a year ago. I need to replace the arms tomorrow if possible. Thanks ahead of time.

Lower arm rearward bolt 111 lb-ft
Lower arm forward bolts (2) 73 lb-ft
Lower ball joint nut 85 lb-ft

i've replaced these twice over the years as they would fail safety inspections for play. you will need a 21mm open end wrench or crow foot as you can't get a socket over the lower ball joint nut.

Thanks! Any idea why the plastic looking inserts might slide out of the bushing?

none of mine stayed in place. i stopped trying to shove them back in. they seem too soft to offer any real support, not sure what they are for. anyway, pushing 260,000 miles and drive it nearly every day

The shops keep telling me that it means they are broken lol even after i just installed them. I replaced the arms this time cause I did mess up and not torque the ball joint correctly last time.
