Came home Sunday to a Puddle of antifreeze after sitting since Friday

Hi All

06 Freestyle 6Cyl Auto AWD Wagon
Came home to a puddle of Antifreeze even though the car sat in the driveway since Friday afternoon.
It was not there Saturday morning when I left town.
Car was not driven Saturday or Sunday.

I was not able to do much Sunday but give a quick look under the hood.
The puddle on the ground was right about under the water pump area (although it was pretty big so hard to pinpoint exactly) and it ran off to the side of the car.
Under the hood the stuff under the water pump and the cross over tube along the radiator appeared to be wet too but did not pinoint any actual drips.

I have never had a coolant leak occur after the car has been sitting and cold.
Also never seen a water pump like this either so not sure if there's any unique weak points for this setup.

After work today I took out the airbox out get a better look at where it might be coming from but all appears to be dried up now.

Anyone have any experience with this or anything similar?
Any common weak points for the cooling system in that area?

Thanks in advance for any help on this!
Bill

In my experience if you get coolant leaking when the car is sitting, it is usually the water pump.

There is a HUGE difference in the cost of water pumps!
Even just at RockAuto it runs between 86 and 258.

I know you get what you pay for but....

I bought an Airtex water pump from Amazon (was cheaper at the time than rockauto) - have 5k on it/4 months, no issues. Looks like it's about $161 on rockauto right now (170 on amazon).

if you've not swapped the thermostat out, do it during this service - also get the water pump to thermostat housing gasket as well as the thermostat gasket if it doesn't come with one.
