No start no crank

Post by Dallasboycows » Sun Aug 06, 2017 1:09 pm

Tested the battery at autozone and charged and its fine. I tried using a jumper cable on the relay fuse and sometimes the starter or solenoid clicks and sometimes it doesn't but thats it. Tried banging on the starter and the solenoid but no change. Me and my wife thought we heard the starter turn one time out of like 100 but couldn't get it to do it again. There were absolutely no signs of a bad starter as usually happens like intermittent no starts or the starter hanging up.

Is this a bad starter or should i be checking other things. I don't see any bad fuses and switched out fuses like the pcm and starter relay but no different results.

You need to jump the starter by applying 12V to the solenoid wire (the smaller of the two) to see if it will run the starter or not. If it does, then your problem is electrical on the car, not the starter. If it won't, then bad starter.

Thanks. It was the starter. It locked up out of nowhere. Beat on it but it was seized. New starter... problem fixed.
