Wondering what this part is

Post by jadenzambon » Sat Jul 08, 2017 10:59 pm

Can't find this rubber part online and do not know what to search for (the uppermost black rubber piece). Hoping one of you have come across this and could lead me in the right direction. Thanks!

That appears to be plastic. I'm not sure off-hand what it's called exactly. What are you trying to accomplish?

It is loose and hanging off slightly and seems to be missing a pin (not a screw). So i figure I should just replace it or fasten it better.

I guess the picture is hard to put it in perspective, but it's underneath my '05 FS kind of between my two front tires.

It's the dust cover that you remove when you want access to the torque converter bolts. It's made of plastic.

Ahh, now I remember. It has two plastic pins that hold it in place on the exhaust pipe side. You can probably substitute any plastic pin (or screw) you can find in an auto parts or hardware store.

On the other hand, probably not any harm in just removing it completely. So a little dust gets in there.

The dust cover is held on by two REALLY CRAPPY plastic screws. Mine broke they are a metric thread and pretty small. I used a allen head bolt to replace mine from Lowes.
