Tire Size

Post by Minnesota_Nice » Sun Apr 09, 2017 7:31 am

Hi,

I would like know all of your opinion on a tire size 235/70 r17? I am aiming for bigger and bulkier look on my FS. I see that it fits the Escape. And, I was wondering if any of you had any experience with bigger tires on your FS? My other plan is to roll up the fender a little bit to accommodate the tire's clearance.

Thank you.
MN.

I went to 225 65 17, just a step up because I wanted Pirelli scorpion verde tires and they didn't come in the stock size 215 65 17. You are correct in wanting a beefier look mine looks much better just one step wider. No difference in handling or anything that I have been able to notice but the Pirellis are nice.

Sounds like more of a truck tire... I'd Google one of those tire diameter calculators to see oHow much taller that tire is gonna be... Doesn't seem like there's much room left in those wheel wells.

I was at a junkyard in Denver the other day and there was a freestyle with 245/xx/xx tires mounted on the stock rims. I was really surprised. They were performance tires not truck tires though.

I am not aware of any tires available in the 215/65R17 size that would be more aggressive like a General Grabber LT tire, BF All Terrian, etc. I recently had to lost a one tire due to a a puncture, the other tires were at 4/32 so I had to get all 4.

I went with a Firestone Destination LE2. I was happy with in especially in the rain and 12" snow fall they got tested in. If you find a more true AT or dual tread like BF Goodrich's Rugged Terrian in that size be sure to post up
