By the way... my chipped paint in the front.

What should I do?

Run to an AutoZone and see if they can match the paint. I'm too cheap to take it to a pro.

Looks like you did MUCK it up.

Go to the "Full Editor & Preview" at the bottom of your page and you can just upload the attachments there. Way easier than linking...IMO.

Thanks... I actually did mess it up more than this the first go.

I only had 4 pics, the rest of the text is useless since I originally was trying to link to Google Photos.

Methinks I'll delete the useless links to prevent confusion.

It is stone chips anymore, they likley were at one point, but they werent addressed and the aluminum began to corrode (yes aluminum corrodes just like stainless steel does too).

The only fix is to strip and sand and fill then repaint.

My aluminum hood on my 2002 F150 started doing the same ting. All I did was mask off about the first 10 inches and paint it with a rubberized coating...that peeling paint from Walmart. Not plasticity...but like it.

You may want to consider doing the same. I was fortunate because mine is white and a match was easy. You could find something close or match the trim and maybe even just go with black. A 4 or 5 inch strip across the hood front wouldn't look bad at all. Just an idea. Plus, the rubberized paint doesn't dry and get brittle so no future chips either. It would look like those car 'bras' you used to see all the time.

Or, you could try to find an actual bra for it.

Here ya go. Notice how the hood pice is separate? Just paint a strip like that on the hood. $90, free shipping. Pretty good deal.

Wow... I haven't seen a bra in years. I had one for my 2001 Focus. Do they still even make them anymore?

I will definitely look into your rubber suggestion though.

Thanks.

I will see if I can find a pic of the Taurus X with a bra on. I want to see if I will like the look before I buy it. Plus I'm super cheap. Pretty sure I can beat that price.

PPF (paint protection film) has made car "bras" obsolete. I've owned a couple cars with PPF and it's worth every penny. A little pricey to buy if a pro installs it but it protects from rock chips, etc. and lasts for many years. Bras rub on the paint and eventually damage it. Plus they're harder to clean because dirt gets trapped underneath, etc.
