Just got 2006 with 72,000.

Post by victorsledge » Sat Mar 18, 2017 7:31 am

Just got the car. It is in excellent condition. I love it so far. I had the cvt fluid drained and replaced yesterday. Had no idea about the HP filter until I found this forum last night. I know I should get it done now...but I am tapped out on funds. Oh well I suppose. I will get it done at some point. Hopefully the cvt holds up.

I would recommend that you redo the service with draining and filling the trans with a HP filter

Yep. That would be an expensive mistake/oversight.

Make whoever did the service tell you why they didn't replace it.

Did you have it done at a shop, dealer, friend? I would say if a shop or dealer did it, they DEFINITELY owe you a fix. And by fix I mean a filter and fluid replacement.

Not sure how I or others feel about using the fluid again if it's only been in for a short time. You may be able to save the money if you can reuse it. It's expensive stuff.

A shop did it and I have an even bigger concern. The slip says I was charged for ATF fluid. I called them to get this issue resolved and they indicated that the correct fluid that the manufacture calls for was used. They also said that they would redo the job at no cost but now I am concerned that they are using ATF and not CVT fluid. FML

I saw this somewhere the other day. They just have a generic entry for automatic transaxle fluid. So they may have used the right fluid. But I'd sure let them check.

If it is not FoMoCo CVT fluid its WRONG. I'd take it back to them make them do the fluid and filter with FoMoCo stuff.

19 years in the autobiz, yes the reciwpts have generic menu deacriptions but they typically use BG flush items or similar and universal fluids
