Post by DanfromSterling » Mon Jan 11, 2016 6:38 pm

Getting p0701 code when cold outside less than 30F I would say. Swapped throttle body from my freestyle. Still getting the code. Any one have this one figured out?

May have found issue.... Dropped trans pan and filter fell out. Changed trans fluid and put in new trans filter. Did NOT change trans high pressure filter. Car sat rest of afternoon and through night. Started up this morning with -5 F temp outside and no codes driving today. See what the week brings. "Fingers crossed"....

Have codes come back? Did changing trans fluid resolve the issue?

No codes rest of winter... believe it was the pan filter seal. But changed pan filter and new fluid.

Same problem here in MN. Changed the pan filter last night, let the car sit over night. -1 out overnight. Started it up this morning and no warning lights!

P0701

Post by Jacob Witmer » Wed May 03, 2017 7:55 am

I have a 2006 Ford Freestyle Limited FWD with over 163,000 miles and The wrench light (Limp Home Mode) comes on every time the vehicle comes to a complete stop and resets when I turn the car off and turn it back on. I took it to Auto Zone and P0701 came up with no solutions! My local auto-mechanic who works at a Ford dealership said it's an electrical solinoid. My brother and I think it's a bad sensor. My car sat in my mechanic's lot for 3 weeks before he looked at it and told me the issue and it costed $30 just for the car to sit there for 3 weeks. He says they don't even make the parts for it no more and it would be too expensive to fix. I've done so much research and so much work on the car from changing the transmission fluid to cleaning the throttle body to moving wires off harnesses and nothing's helped! I can't even afford a new tranny nor a new car! Can someone help me?!?
