Well that's what I've concluded, anyway. I think I am the only guy on here who has done 2 of these AND gotten the lights to go out in both.On that note, did we decide the lights were caused by the difference in vin's between the modules?

that's if I keep the car.....transmission shifts great, but has this weird clunk when downshifting from 6th to 4th, mostly on the highway. I'm probably going to swap out valve bodies, maybe just try a different solenoid.
Has anyone done this freestyle trans swap from cvt to 6 speed in metro Detroit area? Wondering if anyone has price to have this done. I have 2005 with 192k miles that cvt trans just died . like to possibly get the 6 speed put in if possible. Let me know if anyone would be interest or know someone that may want to quote doing the work.
Ive put a few thousand miles on the engine/transmission combo. Took it on a trip last week. Seems pretty solid. In theory, should be very reliable. This drivetrain only had 50k. Had a trans with that weird recall. I just reused my 06 valvebody. A little disconcerting, but seems ok.
I'm getting ready to do this swap. Where are the ECU and ABS modules located on the 500? Do I need the TCM module since I have FWD only on my Freestyle? I already have an "06 500 trans, axles, trans mounts, flex plate and bolts, torque converter and shifter for my "06 Freestyle. Are there any other parts I need to get?jas88 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2018 6:44 amDid the swap this weekend but made some mistakes along the way that kept me from finishing it up in time for work today. It was disappointing, I did the earlier swap last May on a test mule so I could find out all the things to look out for, but it went very smoothly. Now on my DD, it seems I keep stepping on rakes. Just trying to work too fast to get it done for Monday morning I guess.
Anyway, I did get the ECU, TCM, and ABS module from the 2006 500 that I used last May and put them all in my DD and it runs with no warning lights, so this is the hot ticket for getting the ABS and TC lights to go out. Just be aware, as I have stated before, 2007 is not compatible with 2005-06. I should have it on the road this week.
What is a PATS module and where is it located?jas88 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 8:40 amSo this weekend my stepson *finally* brought his FS (the one with my 1st swap in May 2017) to the shop so I could swap out the ECU & ABS module. I had previously swapped out the trans module so I could have his for my DD. Anyway, after he's been driving around for 9 months with ABS and TC lights on, I swapped the 2 modules, tied the Montego key to his PATS antenna with a tie-wrap, and voila! no more warning lights. I now have 2 Freestyles in the family with 6-speeds in them and no warning lights on in either one.My stepson has been driving around all this time in the 2007 FS I did last May with the TC/ABS lights on, so my hope is this weekend I can put the 3 boxes from the 2007 Montego into his car and then use the 2006 TCM he has on mine and make all our lights go out. We will see.
PATS = Passive Anti-Theft System. It means the keys with the transmitter in them. PATS is incorporated into the vehicle PCM which is located under the hood. This means when you do the swap, the keys from the donor car must follow the PCM into your car.
