Speaker? The speaker IN the unit was bad? Where on earth would you get one and how did you think of that problem?

I got a module with the speaker from an auto wrecker and swapped both out with mine and everything worked. Then I wanted to be more specific so I put my original module back on with the replacement speaker and everything worked fine and that is how I know it was the speaker at fault. Now I feel more knowledgeable and satisfied. Ford dealer wanted $125.00 for diagnosis just to tell me it can't be fixed because they can't get parts.

I didn't know there was a separate speaker - I thought it used the radio speakers.

Nope. Speaker inside the module casing.

On mine the speaker snaps on top of the module case, not inside and it does have its own two wire female plug.

Yes it is on the pillar for the Freestyle wagon, the other picture is for the car style not wagon. but the actual module and speaker are the same.

Right. I was the one who told you where it was. ;) But you are saying there is a separate module that contains only the speaker, aside from the actual module w/the 'brains', aren't you? Or maybe there is an additional, external speaker module? The 1st pic is for the 500, the second is the Freestyle.

To use the Governments Political Phrase " Let me be clear" the module is a square box about 3X3 inches and 3/4 inch thick. To the top of the box (actually its side when in place in the Freestyle), is snapped on, a speaker, about an inch and a quarter diameter which is inside a protective cage with holes in it. This cage has a female plug to accept the male 2 wire plug in. The module has its own plug which is, 12 pin I think. So the speaker is part of the module but can be replaced separately. The radio volume is turned down by the module when beepers are sounding. The beeper sound does not go through the radio. You can see this in the picture, kind of. The more I talk, the more confused it gets.
