Just curious if my miles were high and found you guys. We have a 2006 SEL Freestyle bought new with 86mls on it. Currently, we are at 260k. The electronics on the dash never worked until a recent recall and now two lights won't go off, with another intermittent. The only things we've replaced are the breaks and wheel bearings but the transmission is starting to act up. Finding hope in the latest post about the 358k or so miles.

Me too has interior lights acting up. They stay on for some seconds when we start the car and roll off, and they may come on when we hit a bump.

122k original owner.

No CVT issues. A/C busted. Otherwise, runs better than it deserves.

That's good to hear. No weird sounds from the transmission either.

195K here and chugging along. AC better when I topped it off. Holds decent into the 100 degrees, but by far not like the Chilly-Winter AC in my 97 F250.

220,000 miles on mine. CVT replaced with a Ford rebuilt at 92,000. Spark plugs at 90,000, coolant at 100,000, otherwise brakes and oil changes only. Been a great car other than the tranny replacement that cost $6,000 from the dealer. Obviously, the rebuilt has been corrected of the initial problems as it is still going strong at 128,000 miles

Mine run around 140K before it broke down, all of a sudden while doing a left turn over the highway. The cost was what you stated and then some plus addition stay on motels since we were afar.

We love this crossover. Fits our need perfect. We even took a road trip to Nova Scotia and Maine from Arkansas - and slept in it, wife and I, at some neat places like on small fishing harbors. Needless to say there were easy access to great feed there.

198,000 on mine. Bought it new and have had no problems with the CVT.
The bad: 1. AWD pump went bad. 2. A/C went out around 120,000 miles. 3. Front A-arms needed replaced around 170,000 4. DVD player stopped working about 111,000. 5. Rear caliper froze up. 6. Oil pan starting to leak now.

Pretty much kept up on the maintenance and still running good. Getting normal mpg.

198k on ours too now. But as mentioned, we changed the CVT at 140k something.

Wow! Are you going to be the first one over 300,000 miles?

I just passed 200k and then some. Changed oil and filter, and all well.

New here. I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle Limited. I bought it new. It has 255,565 miles on it. I tried to start it last week and unfortunately, it wouldn't start. I LOVE my crossover. I don't want to get a new car but my husband is dead set against putting a few thousand into a new transmission and just wants me to get a new car. The only reason why we suspect it's the transmission is that it has been skipping for a while. The other annoying thing has been the clicking sound from the A/C. I forgot what the mechanic called it..blend door or something. Anyway, I came to this forum looking for some hope and considering my options after spending over an hour looking at other used cars like the Subaru Impreza and a Kia Sorento which I am kinda leaning against getting. The Subarus are workhorses like the Freestyle and the one I'm looking at only has 34k miles on it. It's a 2014. This could be the car that I pass off to my son in 5 years when he heads to college and he'll still have another 100k+ miles he can put on it. THinking out loud as I way my options. My 2005 is like my baby and it's been such a reliable car and been through both of my boys' early childhood. I just don't want to sink $4k into a re-built transmission and then have to keep sinking money into repairs. Neither one of us knows how to do car repairs ourselves so going to a mechanic is our only option. Anyway, glad to see there are some other long life Freestyle drivers!

Welcome. The clicking is a blend door actuator, a fairly common problem. The non start isn’t usually caused by the trans. Define “slipping” the CVT isn’t like a normal auto trans. Any other symptoms, noises, warning lights?
Have you considered the Flex? Pretty much the same interior!
