Disassembly diary... '05 Limited Anyone need anything?
Re: Disassembly diary... '05 Limited Anyone need anything?
I’m closing in on the end of this project. It’s time to get rid of it so I’m starting to put things back together enough to take it to the salvage yard. If anyone wants it then it’s free! With title. I’m keeping small parts to use for my ‘07 but I’d love to give it to someone who needs body or interior parts
I did conquer the rear. I wanted to get the half shafts out but couldn’t get the hub off. So I took the knuckle out. It was difficult as the bolts were rusted and loctited. But they came out without breaking. I don’t think I’ll take the whole rear differential out
I put the seats and dash back in. The dash was really easy... less than 5 minutes. I thought I’d have to fight it into place. Lots more garage space without the dash and front seats laying around!
So far the only thing that whipped me was the abs sensor. No way it would come out. I know this is common but still frustrating to be defeated.
I’m also working on a new project... 2006 Lincoln Town car so that’s why it’s time to wrap up this freestyle project.

I know that I messaged you about some parts from thw car and you responded. But ive been waiting to see when you got finished to see if you was able to test the pump for the AWD unit. Bc I'm still needing those things I asked you about. Just wanted to give you some time to digure things out.

Yes... I remember. I finally go the driveshaft off and the Haldex. Can you remind me exactly what information you need me to check/test? I never saw this vehicle run but the previous owner's report was there were no problems with the drivetrain other than the CVT so it should be OK. Currently it's off the car so I have full accessibility to do whatever you need.

RIP Freestyle
A local salvage place came and picked it up today. The engine subframe was out but we still bolted the wheels on with only the struts for support. But without any engine weight we could move it around and they could pull it onto the flatbed. By the time they got it on one of the front wheels was bent in.
I put most of the interior plastic back in as a I did not want to keep it. I remove just about everything else.
It was a great learning experience and good practice to see how the freestyle goes together. I’m keeping quite a few small parts in case I need them on my 2007. Or if anyone needs anything I may still have it so let me know
This will end the diary so thanks for watching the progress. I hope you learned something

This is so sad to see. One of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I hope I can get a couple of more years out of mine. The best driving suv ever!
