CEL

The check engine light came on the other day. I took it to AutoZone and they ran their scanner and said it registered that it was running lean and recommended a mass air flow sensor replacement. I told them I was going to wait until my mechanic could do that repair. (I didn’t want to spend the $98 to just see if that would fix it.) I went home and disconnected the battery to clean terminals and drove the car three days with no CEL!
Today it came back on. Went to O’Reillys to have it scanned. Their machine also said it was running lean. The first guy suggested replacing the fuel filter. He then turned to another associate and he said I should pull the intake manifold off and replace the gasket.
Wow! Very different repairs. Anybody get a lean code on theirs and have a starting spot for me to check?

Check the boot from the air filter to the TB for cracks. You have an air leak somewhere.
