F2 fuse for 07 Freestyle keeps blowing

Post by TMD » Wed Sep 24, 2014 9:12 am

Windows, radio and interior lights do not work. Have checked both fuse panels and replaced any fuses that were in need. Fuse F2 continues to blows the instant it is replaced. Not sure what to check/do next, any ideas?

Make sure you are using a 15A fuse, if less, it will blow. If the 15A blows you have a short some where and that has to be found and fixed first. Has the radio been replaced? Maybe wire rubbed through insulation to the strands, likely in the door.

I had a problem with the windows and the interior lights. I could not get the windows down. The problem was in the passenger side sun visor. The black wire insulation was broken and exposing the metal wiring which was making it contact with the roof metal. You can check both sun visors just in case. Hard to believe!!!.

:D I figured out what the problem was on my wife's 2005 ford freestyle when it blew the window/interior light fuse. I used a multimeter to test the circuit and while troubleshooting I noticed that the problem was in the second row interior light. if I turned the map lights off (either side) the problem would go away. Windows would roll up and down all the other 5000 lights in the car worked. But when I flipped the switch on the center light it blew the fuse. SOOOOO I took out the light bulbs for the courtesy lamps and now no blown fuses and the rest of the 4998 lightso and all the windows work

Spent days looking for problem. After taking to mechanic, he spent days chasing wiring diagrams anf swapping out fuse panel. He said he was about to call me and give up, but then saw where there are 2 exterior courtesy lights on timed delay UNDER the mirrors - I had never even noticed them. He popped out the passenger side light and whoops there it was. Water had corroded the connection and was shorting out everything sharing that fuse. Hopefully this post will save someone else time and the >$500 it cost me.

I don't have access to the 2007 FSM right now, but here's the diagram from the 2006.
The Battery Junction Box fuse panel does not have a fuse in the F2 spot, but the Smart Junction Box under the driver dash does.
