FAILSAFE and replaced Throttle Body still problem

Post by Aloha » Fri Dec 20, 2019 7:05 am

Was getting a “failsafe” and “check engine” warnings on my 2005 Ford Freestyle. The mechanic replaced the Throttle body and for a day my freestyle worked fine. The second day, on start-up, I get a “failsafe” indicator that resulted in stuttering effect when trying to accelerate. I then drive it a few feet and turned off my engine..waited a few seconds and turned it back on and the “failsafe” alert went away, freestyle drove fine. Over the next two days, the “failsafe” may or may not occur come on when starting the freestyle....I brought it into the mechanic and of course it drove there fine without any issues (no dashboard alerts of failsafe or check engine. He was unable to find the issue and spent time driving it, using his computer etc.....however today, as I was driving, once the car hit 40 mph, I get a “failsafe” alert and then a check engine light. The check engine Would not go away even after stopping and turning off the engine. There is also an yellow engine icon that appears on the dashboard. I used my obd scanner and it gives me the following codes p0122, p2106, p2135.
I read the codes on line...appears to be a throttle position sensor issue but as indicated earlier, I replaced the throttle body. I will bring it in again(my 3rd time) to the mechanic...any advise?

The throttle body is only half of the system, the pedal is the other half.
Drove an 06 LTD FWD from July 08 to August 10, moved on to a 2011 Flex

Thanks....they check the voyages on both the tb and pedal. Looks fine. It appears the wires that hubbed into the sensor were worn causing them to short. It appears this had fixed the problem....will report back after I drive it around.
