05 SEL Freestyle AWD

Post by swespace » Thu Oct 03, 2013 8:35 pm

Hi all,

New to forum but a long history with freestyle :) I bought my 05 last year but was working on the program between 03-06 as the AWD engineer (sure, that line didnt make me very popular for some  ).

Still love the freestyle as it fits all my needs so thought i would join here as well.

No complaints here regarding the AWD system-it works great! I just wish there were published service intervals for the fluids, particularly the Haldex fluid and filter. That would have eliminated about 98% of folks' problems.

^ Agreed, that would be really nice. "lifetime" just doesn't make me feel too happy. I've changed my fluids, but would love to know what the suggested intervals would be as well.

Welcome. I think it's cool to be a AWD engineer.

The gen 2 system is a sealed for life system. It is more or less the exact same system as for the VW 2005-2009 system and while they do not give out information in their manuals either the recommended mileage is 40k.

BTW: here is some video from the sand tuning of the 500 and freestyle :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZG52UiQCM8
