I sadly parted ways with my 1988 Honda Accord LX. Bought it new 18 years ago, only 107,000 miles, 5-speed, original clutch, stolen once, very clean interior but cancerous in the back.

Traded in a 2000 Olds Alero. She was a wonderful car but getting up in miles and it was just time. Plus, I couldn't pass up the steal this dealer gave me for the FS.

Welcome to the Freestyle Club. :)

I am surprised that the Mustang lasted that long. Within a month of my 3rd being born, we moved to a full size van. Just couldn't handle a mini-van back then when they were still a new item --- long ago in 1983.

Freestyle replaces a falling apart 96 Dodge Caravan with more electrical/mechanical problems than I can count. Chrysler makes crap IMO. I'll never buy anything made by them ever again.

Big SUV...

Our 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. Much as we loved it, with the gas prices going where they were and the fact that most of our trips were driving cross-country, we figured we'd better downsize.

The last main driving trip we were on was 11,000 kilometres, or about 7,000 miles. (Edmonton to Montreal, with side trips, and back.) In the Expedition these days, that would be mighty expensive.

In the Freestyle we bought last Friday, it will likely cost us about half the gas. And it's newer, yet has all of the same high-end bells and whistles. We're pretty happy! (And our dog, who travels with us but is getting older, likes it better because she doesn't have to jump as high to get in....)

Glad you have the Freestyle, but really sorry to hear about your Caravan problems! We had an '88 Grand Caravan that we kept for 11 years, then sold to our nephew who in turn had it for another four or five years, then he sold it on again -- and it never gave either of us a problem and was still running well.

It's lousy when someone gets a real lemon.
