Resale Value SEL vs Limited

Post by Thrusty » Wed Nov 16, 2016 7:43 am

Anybody else find it strange an SEL model books for more than a Limited model according to KBB when equipped the same? Doesn't really make sense to me.

Interesting. Which year, mileage, location? I think location makes a big difference because we're in Minnesota, and our AWD '08 T-X seems to book for more here then it does in other places. Would be interested to see the example. Thanks. D

None of that matters. When all values are set equal the Limited is valued at less. Doesn't matter what market or what options as long as they are the same. I just checked KBB, that trend does not follow suit for the T-X. The Limited is worth significantly more.

Edit: OK. I see now. Weird. The SEL is worth $300 more. At least compared to my Limited. Only difference I noted was the two-tone paint. SEL did not come in, and was not available in, solid colors. They were 2 tone. The Limited was only available in solid color, two tome was not available. Using just that difference, there is a substantial value difference, with the nod going to the Limited, as one might expect it should:

I love my FS... online pricing struts for it now. However, I have no illusions that its true resale value to a savey used car buyer is about nill particularly for early models- due to CVT issues/reputation. I have a VERY late 07 production model.

The CVT was changed late in production of the last year of a model type AND transmission they were about to abandon? What differences are there and where did this info come from? I'm questioning because this is the 1st time I've ever heard your claim after reading (what I thought) was about every article/post relating to the FS and the CVT over the past 6+ years of ownership. :?:
