I recently had some cracking that was peeling off in the rear wheel wells , I went to my local body shop and for a reasonable price they re-sprayed undercoating also did the underside by the rear suspension.

Well worth doing especially if you life with cold weather and salty roads.

What I had done was not rubberized it's exactly what Ford used originally in the rear wheel wells.

I don't recommend putting undercoat on an older car. It will only hide the rust, not stop it once started. I've seen the stuff peeled off and the metal would peel off with it.
I agree about the rubber based. It is worse than nothing.
