Dear Respectful Friends and Ford Freestyle Lovers !

I have a 05 FWD freestyle with a high fuel consumption of 13.8 MPG in city some time highway. last time with the full tank of 19 gallons I just hit 268 miles and I think it is very low miles.

the engine and transmission are fine everything is okay in computer, the car doesnt have any fault at all but I dont know why the fuel consumption is high.

I really need your suggestions and comments to help me save some dollars.

Note: I have attached a picture of the dashboard.

THANKS
Same

1. Air and fuel filters.
2. Low roll resistance tires?
3. Have the car performance checked with a good diagnostic computer in a drive test.
4. Clean the Throttle Body. Mine was cleaned and after a year started coding. My mileage here in NYCity was down to 14.2 all around and only hit 20+ when I filled up on a highway trip and reset the odometer, I'd tank out at 22mpg.

After all the coding and resetting, I purchased a new TB and installed. Mileage jumped back to 26+ highway and 17-18 combined city. I never pursued the Ford Tech Bulletin offering a Free TB Service because I didn't want to go for something free and they find problems.

MY FS now has 80K miles and runs beautiful.

Thanks Brijack,

I am going to follow your advise and hope it work for me and get some more miles.

I will go for cleaning the throttle body first and if it didn't work then i will install a new one.
