Post by RICKJ » Thu Feb 24, 2005 10:34 am

No response from my 1/21/05 post, is anyone else experiencing this problem? Going back to the dealer for 3rd time tomorrow.

Rick if you still have it, after this time, its likely as simple as a loose nut somewhere. Nothing to get worried about

Bumping Noise

Post by RICKJ » Mon Feb 28, 2005 2:43 pm

Bruin:

The noise was confirmed to be the Emergency brake cable riding on the rear cross frame ("A" Frame). It goes into the brake pads through a hole with a plastic ring. This plastic ring allows the cable to move around freely. However, when the vehicle hits a bump or turns a corner the cable jumps up and down along the frame thus making the bumping or rubbing noise because of the extra room in the ring.

There is what they call an SSB out there, which means that engineers are working on a fix, once established a TSB will be issued and I can get the problem fixed.

This is a problem on all vehicles, FWD anyway. Can't speak to the AWD.

I've got the FWD version, but as of yet have not experienced this issue.
I'm glad to here they did find the problem! Stuff like that can drive you crazy.
