Headphone Symbol on Audio Display: What Does It Mean?

Post by jbadamas » Tue Dec 22, 2009 8:37 am

What does this "headset" symbol mean? It displays whenever the radio or CD player is turned on. It appears in the lower right of the audio system display. It "looks" like a headset, but I guess it could be something else. The owners manual wasn't helpful. Thanks! And Happy Holidays!

That is the indicator for the wireless headsets for the dvd system.

That means that if you have the rear DVD system you can control some of the main stereo functions from the back seat, all you have to do to turn it off is hold down 3 and 5 on the stereo at the same time.

Pushing 4 and 6 at the same time will allow passengers in the mid and rear seats to watch a movie with headsets and you can still play the radio from the front speakers at the same time.

I think it is outlined in the owners manual, but this will work.

All the other questions and answers on this subject are for newer cars than my 1992 Ford Taurus and its radio. No DVD and bluetooth back then. So why do I get the earphone symbol at times when I turn the radio on and not at others. The radio has gone silent at times and then returned to operation without my doing anything. I was wondering if the display of this headphone symbol might be connected with this problem.

I thought it meant you are receiving a stereo signal instead of mono...
