If the CVT is good it may be worth replacing the engine. There are many, many Freestyles in wrecking yards with good engines but bad CVTs

We have had several estimates on replacing the engine and the labor is 22 - 25 hours...$2200 + $800 to 1400 for the motor with warranty, Is this advisable?

After repair, today or a year from now, a dealer would give you $1500 trade-in value, and then he would send it to auto auction.

$3000 for a 13 year old vehicle seems like a lot to put into this vehicle, unless you really cant find anything else you like better than this exact vehicle. I would think you could find another used one with the same or less miles, for less than $1000 more.

My 2 cents.
