Replace plugs & coils or just plugs?

Post by Generic1 » Mon Nov 11, 2019 9:16 pm

Having the issue where the car is starting to jerk/chug under load. Last TRex, we changed the plugs and fixed it.
It's been a while since last time, so I'm asking. Should I get the kit and replace coil packs as well as plugs?

No reason to replace coils unless they have cracks.

I had a coil go bad but it was also causing a misfire, so it threw a code and was not too difficult to trace. Since you already have to take off the intake manifold, if it were me, I would go ahead and replace the three coils under the manifold while you're there, and keep them as spares in case one on the front bank goes bad.
