Taurus X vs. Freestyle

Post by jscharf » Tue Oct 30, 2018 1:57 pm

Did the Taurus X have the same transmission problems as the Freestyle? I know they have different transmissions, but is the Taurus X a more dependable buy if I am looking for a used car?

The T-Rex has the 6 speed which is a pretty good trans.

In general, yes, the T-Rex is a better buy than the Freestyle, not only because it has a better transmission but also because any T-Rex is going to be newer than any Freestyle. Obviously between any two specific cars, you could find a specific Freestyle in better shape than a specific T-Rex. I'm just talking about averages.

Taurus X is by far the better car, better engine, better transmission, more power better handling, just change the transmission fluid every 2 years and you are good.....mine has almost 400k

Just remember the Taurus X uses 3.5 with internal water pump - can be pocketbook killer to R&R the pump (or entire engine when coolant dumps into oil pan).

So I'd say different engine, not better.
