Trade in/sale value for 2008 TX?

Post by Kent » Mon Jul 23, 2018 8:41 am

I'm planning to trade in my 2008 TX AWD SEL (with DVD player package) before the end of the year. It has a few issues (passenger side heated seat doesn't work, tear in one of the leather seats, I am pretty sure the blend door actuator needs to be replaced), but nothing too serious, and is low miles for its age (under 70,000).

I'm curious if anyone can provide some insight on what I might expect (beyond what the KBB price might give me).

(Or if anyone is interested in a second one...)

To be honest, this may not be best place to find that knowledge. Most here are still owners and not recent sellers or shoppers for a T-Rex. I would search the completed sales on E-Bay and also use the on-line resale guides (KBB, etc.) for a good idea. But you will always get more from a private sale than you will on a trade-in. A dealer will likely give you only a couple of grand... maybe little more for the low mileage. But it's too old for most dealers to resell. They would just end up sending it to an auto auction.

If you're serious, let me know! I'm looking at trading it in within the next month or two.

Fixing the blend door is the only repair I'm aware of it definitely needing, although it has its share of decade old creaks and crumbs from traveling with the kids. (Makes clicking sound if you switch the AC vent selector, but works okay if you leave it in the current position.)

Haha my AC vent did the same... For the last 5 years! I will let you know if we are not able to find one a little closer. I'm checking out one in Akron Ohio which is only an hour. I think you're about 6 hours from me but we were planning on going to Eastern pa this fall for knoebles and maybe the Baltimore airshow or Hershey Park

Last year I paid $4500 for an 08 Taurus X ltd with 200,000 miles on it. I thought it was high but I am so loving this vehicle. I have put 12,000 mi. And only problem us 70mph steering wheel shudder that may be from a front bent rim. Fixing to change tranny fluid because it is pale orange!!! Don't think I paid too much.6 CD changer, no sunroof, auto, fwd.
