2008 Taurus X stalling

Post by julie kruse » Sun Dec 26, 2010 7:38 pm

I have now had my Taurus X for 3 months and it has stalled 4 times. All at low speeds and while turning. Ford has replaced the throttle body and it is still stalling. They are not sure how to fix the problem. I am concerned for my families safety and would like to know if anyone else is having the problem. I know it is a problem with some Freestyles and the Taurus X models, but not sure what to do. Class action? Recall? I really just need Ford to buy the car back. Advice?

Give us some more details. Stalling at low speeds while turning is a good clue. Does the car die or just sputter? Does it restart easily? The more details you supply, the better chance someone has of helping diagnose.

How many miles? do you live in the area of the country where you get cold weather and snow?

If it's stalling there is a good chance it is throwing some codes. You didn't say whether the check engine light came on so I will assume it didn't. But even if the light did not come on, there could be some codes stored. Did you ask the dealer if they scanned the codes and if so, what were the results? (It would be hard to believe that they did not scan them.) I'm surprised they replaced the TB, unless there is a known issue. Usually a TB will just need cleaning.
