Water pump cam bolt

Post by donald402 » Tue Jun 20, 2017 4:17 pm

Does anyone know if the dealerships carry this bolt? Had an aftermarket water pump fail and switching back to OEM style. Don't have the bolt and none of the local yards have a freestyle.

Dangit!!!!! I forgot that the five hundred had what I needed. The website for my local yard says they have four of them.

Still wouldn't mind hearing where to get the bolt in case the cars are picked clean.

The stealership has or can get or can tell you the proper size bolt with the proper thread count, etc...

Well, I have learned a lot about this cars cooling system with this experience. Will do a write up for the FAQ. Biggest thing I discovered is that the keyed water pumps are bad for your cam. They weren't designed for the setup and either the pump or the cam are going to fail.

Best deal on after market water pump is at 1aauto.com Their pump is brand new, lifetime warranty, and identical to the OEM for 96ish dollars. It also comes with the bolt.

We ended up getting a water pump from a Ford Five Hundred for $12 at the junk yard.

Newest issue is that the radiator sprung a leak. I believe the many times of overheating caused stress on the radiator and so it now probably needs replaced.

Water pump cam bolt

Another question about my problem. Can the water pump have enough pressure to force water out of the thermostats without them getting warm and opening them self?

I've never seen a water pump with enough pressure to open the thermostat. This engine does have a separate bypass that can look like the thermostat is part opened. On cold days, it can take a while to warm up, especially if you have the AC on auto.
