I solved the issue with the vibration in my 2007 Five Hundred SEL FWD, 130,000 miles. I replaced the transmission fluid for the 3rd time and the vibration mysteriously disappeared. I also changed the coolant but I doubt the coolant would have anything to do with the vibration. To change the fluid just measure what you take out very carefully and fill with the same amount. I only use the Motorcraft trans fluid specific to my transmission.

Hope this solves your vibration issue also. :D

Well after replacing all the injectors, the EGR valve again and all the spark plugs the check engine light is back on and throwing the same codes (Bank 1&2 are lean along with a transmission issue because of the engine running lean). I removed part of the air intake hose and found oil again inside the air intake. SO i did some googling and decided to replace the PCV valve. It still did nothing and the deep vibration is getting worse along with a significant power loss. If I drive the vehicle and it warms up I notice a significant power loss to the point where I will not move at all with the vehicle in gear and on a flat road with out having my foot on the brake. I took it into a mechanic with some sort of special computer and said that they will find the problem. They have had the vehicle now for going on 3 days and they are running out of ideas accept whatever is happening is causing the EGR valve to fail and causing a performance issue. They first thought it was an evap leak until they did a fuel trim test and found nothing notable. Anyone have anything else I can throw at them for ideas?? I have replaced the fuel rail, all 6 injectors, the fuel pressure sensor, the fuel filter, the MAFS, EGR valve 3 times now, and lastly the PCV valve. Smoke test showed no leaks, and fuel trim test showed no leaks as well. Whatever this vibration is has to be causing the engine to misfire or run extremely rough to cause these problems.

loss of power and EGR failure could point to a clogged catalytic converter, specifically the cat just in front of the resonator/muffler. does not address the trans codes but might be worth a look/test. d

I broke down and hired a mechanic to run a fancy computer on the Freestyle and spent enough money to make me cry and only found was a pinched wire that could have caused an evap leak. Smoke test found no evap leaks. Only thing he suggested was rebuild the motor $6800. I said, no thank you. I did more googling and replaced 3 of the 4 o2 sensors (Couldn't get the rear bank 2 off) as it was the last thing I could figure could be wrong other than bad piston rings. I drive it for ~100 miles and it still did the vibration but with no lights or codes. A month or so in still no lights and it appears the vibration is gone!?? I mean 95% gone. It shifts better and doesn't run rough. This may be because its been averaging 10 degrees for the high and -15 for the lows the last 2 weeks. What on earth could have caused this bipolar flip back to normal?

Vibration...Check the passenger (right) side axle support and that the 2 bolts holding it, are actually there. I went through new tires, new rotors, new LEFT side axle, new struts, etc...all to find that the 2 bolts for the shaft mid-point support were gone and the axle, essentially, was just flopping around. Yes, there were times when it (the vibration) seemed gone, and then other times it was quite pronounced. I replaced the axle as well as the 2 bolts and no issue now.

I checked both the shafts and they appear to all be in order. I noticed that the vibration came back very pronounced when the temperatures around here warmed up to almost 60, but last night the vibration was completely gone when the temperature fell below 30. I drove it this morning for about 40 miles with a temperature of 16 and it didn't vibrate once!

I snapped a few pics of the sensor data when the vibration was happening on that warm day. Remember I replaced 3 of the 4 O2 sensors with the one not replaced being the bank on the rear side of the motor farthest away, and there is no air leaks that can be found in the engine compartment.

And now watch when its cold out, the bank 1&2 sensor 2's hardly move at the same speeds and RPM's. I will upload them in a day or so when it drops into the negatives again.

How many miles do you have on it?
Have you changed your transmission fluid yet?

I did a lot to my car to get rid of the vibration also. It was the transmission fluid in mine that fixed my issue.

Hey Matt, I know its been over a year now but what was the problem nd were you able to solve it ?? I myself got a 07 Freestyle Lmtd. nd having the same issue while driving past 50 mph every time i would step on the gas i get a deep vibration through out the car, it gets less as i easy off the gas pedal and goes away if im just coasting at any speed above 45-50 mph but as soon as i hit the gas it starts to vibrate .... Tranny shifts flawlessly, no weird noises or slipping , engine purrs like it should with no noises as well. I dont think it has anything to do with suspension cuz I would feel it without having to press gas. Let me know what u have came up with. Thanks....
