Hi there, I bought my ford freestyle back in july, and the average mpg on the dash board always seemed to run around 21-22mpg, and it seemed to almost drop within a few days to 19 and lower. Ive tried reseting it several times, and always seems to stay around 17-18 average now. I just got a new air filter, filled up the tires, put in some fuel injector cleaner and it still is reading that low! The only other known issues is a small oil seep from a gasket, and it needs some new transmission fluid and a filter. Around the time I noticed the drop, it had started to get cold outside. When I got it it was around 75 degrees outside, and now is around 20. Could the climate change or dirty transmission fluid cause the drop? What else could cause such a drop? By the way, it does seem to use gas up quicker, so it might not be a computer issue.
That is what I get on average for highway driving.melguadalupe wrote:I have reset it several times now, even when going on the highway. On the highway it says im only getting 22-23
Hope you are right about the winter gas. Just replaced my Michelen Hydroedge tires (after 62,000 miles) with Cooper CS5 Touring and my mileage has DROPPED BY 20-25%! My 'Style has 96,000 plus miles and have NEVER had a sudden drop like this before. Anyone have similar problems with new tires?
