Is the PTU a volvo bevel gear?

Post by MrBugatti » Sun Dec 09, 2018 9:55 pm

First things first I have a 2006 Five hundred AWD not a Freestyle but this still should apply to anyone with a Freestyle AWD. Last week I was changing the roll resistor mount for the second time  at 208,000k and I noticed that the top of the "PTU" said sweeden on it and even from underneath compared to my friends 2007 Volvo XC90 3.2 AWD they looked identical does this mean I could use volvo bevel gear oil to service it?

Just as a side note the "PTU" oil and Haldex oil are original

The rear axle and Haldex Unit are identical to P2 platform Volvos- circa 2004 ish to 2010ish.

The bevel gear or angle gear off the transaxle is NOT the same as any volvo.
