update, all my local dealer would do was clean the system . They showed me the email from Ford warranty dept. that verified that was all that was covered. So far it does seem to be running ok.

throttle body system crapped out again after 900 kilometers. I had to tow the car to my local dealer and 900$ later, it is running fine now. To say I am extremely disappointed is putting it mildly.

Many thanks for this forum and particularly this post. Had my throttle body service yesterday and the surging problem seems to be cured. Now I have to wait for winter to see if it cured the cold starting problem, too.

Nice to get something fixed for free, even though the dealer did try to upsell me on a bunch of stuff I don't really need. Thanks, but no thanks.

I saw some Ford Throttle Body warranties covering other models for 10 years or 150'000 miles, in the States, for non-original owners. Pretty good. Will need to check to see if it applies in Canada also, having some issues, cleaning is not cutting it anymore.

IF this is still valid, I hope my 07 will sneak in for coverage as I think the throttlebody is tits up

The first time it happened I was with my family going to my son's summer soccer tournament. The radio, AC, cruise control and a plugged-in cellphone was ALL on while driving at 65mph-70mph on the highway. Suddenly, the vehicle went on limp mode so I pulled over to the shoulder lane turned off the engine and everything else. Then turned it back on and it drove just fine not until this last Wednesday, 11/13/19. On the highway, I was going 60mph-65mph when the "surge" happened to the car. It was like chocking on some peanuts and I could see my cluster going to almost 3k rpm while losing momentum.

I already called the Ford Motor Company but they said there is no recall regarding the throttle body on my vehicle.

At Last!!!

Ford has extended the warranty on the Ford Freestyle THROTTLE BODY SURGE PROBLEM. For most cars, it is now 10 years and 150,000 miles or if you have exceeded the mileage, you will have until May 2013.

I received my letter today. The warranty extension is vehicle specific by VIN and the letters are addressed to the registered owner to that VIN.
