I changed mine an 60K miles with the high pressure filter. It didn't "look" bad but I consider it cheap insurance. The pan gasket on our 2006 was a paper type so it's not reusable. Ford has used a thick rubber style that is re-usable on other transmissions, I don't know if any other model year CVT uses them. If the bolts are corroded or hard to remove spray some penetrating oil on them and work them out slow. Make sure the threads are clean then put a small dab of anti-seize lubricant on the threads before installing. I always use a 1/4 inch ratchet with an extension to remove and install the pan bolts, that way I cant put too much force on them.

I agree, cheap insurance. It's not a difficult job, the pan filter is relatively inexpensive, so why not? Helps get an extra half quart to a quart or so out of the trans while you're in there also. I don't really understand recommendations against it, I wouldn't leave the pan filter in a regular auto that calls for 30-60K services so I don't really understand leaving it in the more expensive CVT.

well yes, BUT to prove to even those on the road to "Perdy" that He canst do ALL things, even if it takes the "fluid" to convince them of who He is.....

I plan on changing both filters and all related gaskets every 60,000 miles.

In a couple of months, I plan to change the pressure filter
again and may drop the pan to see if there are anymore
metal shavings.

I can get the Hi gh pressure for $39.00 from NAPA. I would like to know what the inter material is in the Ford High pressure filler and if any FS owners have used an after market filter and if I should stay with the Ford filter? I have only had this car for 3 months and it has 118k miles on the odometer. Hope to see a reply soon. This is a great forum and my thanks to the webmaster!! 😊

Just use the Ford filter, why take a chance to save a couple of bucks? You only need to change it every 60K miles.

Thank youi Do you have part # for the HP filter and where it is available? Thanks again! I have only had this FS for about 4 months and don't know it's history. It has 118k on the odometer. The transmission fluid is pretty clean on the dip stick but I want to change it anyway. It may not even have the Fomoco cvt fluid in the tranny now. I am 78 years young and can't afford for the dealer to do this for me.
