HEY ANDY,
There are two screws holding it. Lower the sunglass holder and looking toward the windshield, there are the screws. a removable wire connector for the lights and its in your lap.

The mirror and backing plate is available from Ford; (part # 4f9z17k707da-heated left), (part # 4f9z17k707ca-non heated left). My dealer list it for $21.00+tax. The right side is a bit higher, around $5.00 more. The good news is that it is available as a component part.

The backing plate with the mirror is removable as one piece. Push in on the bottom center of the mirror, it will flip out from the top. Then you will see that it has a split hinge on the bottom of the backing plate. Put your finger at the split in the hinge and push out on the backing plate and mirr...

I own a 2007 FS/SEL titanium green/gold cladding, with 8300 miles so far all goes well! Previous auto was a 2001 Windstar/SEL. The difference between the two is quite impressive.
