Re: Engine Code P0420

***Update Took the car to my local Ford dealership service station. They are shaving the rotors because they felt the brake pads were not wearing evenly on them. Otherwise rotors and pads are in good shape. They're balancing the tires because they felt that it may have been a contributing factor. Th...

Re: Engine Code P0420

It's one of the more common DTCs in general, no so much with the Freestyle though. I just did a search and you are the first person asking about that DTC... Yes, I was surprised I didn't see anything already posted on here about it since according to the web it's fairly common. I had it checked out...

Thanks, that's more along the lines of what I was seeing online. Makes me wish it was the gas cap though. Is this a common code with Freestyles?

Engine Code P0420

Check engine light came on and the code that came up is P0420. Anyone have any experience with this code? The guy at Pep Boys said its most like that the gas cap should be replaced but that's not what I've seen online.

Re: Vibration when braking at highway speeds

The vibration is probably warped rotors. You will need to replace or resurface the rotors and probably get new pads. It most likely is NOT related to the check engine light. I would get the code read by an auto parts store or a mechanic and see what is causing it. Thanks, that's in line with what I...

Vibration when braking at highway speeds

I recently purchased an 06 FS AWL SEL with 54000 miles on it. I mostly drive it through the streets but was on the highway today going 50-65 mph. I noticed that when I would apply the brakes at these speeds I felt a vibration that seemed to come from the rear and was significant enough to make the s...

Re: 200,500 miles NOW, No single CVT Fluid & H.P. Filter cha

Congrats on your "new" Freestyle, btw. Sure is low-mileage for an '06. Thanks, the Carfax checked out and I took it to a Ford mechanic pre purchase just to be safe. I did a lot of Freestyle research prior to buying this car so I knew what I was getting myself into. I guess I'll cross the CVT mainte...

Re: 200,500 miles NOW, No single CVT Fluid & H.P. Filter cha

Are there accounts of people who had their CVT serviced as recommended by dealerships who have this many miles? I'm about 7000 miles away from my first CVT service and this thread is making debate whether or not to do it.

2006 AWD SEL 53,000

I did my research, shopped around, and finally pulled the trigger on a 2006 SEL with only 53,000 miles on it. I'm planning on taking all the advice in this forum and performing the scheduled maintenance as well as all the recommended precautions. Here's to knocking on wood and hoping for the best! I...
