Re: Cost of 60,000 mile tune up

Buy some throttle body cleaner for $5.00 and take off the air intake hose. Clean the throttle body damper by having someone hold the accelerator pedal, with the key in the ON position (BUT CAR IS NOT STARTED). This will keep the damper open to allow you clean it. You can do this in less than 5 minu...

Re: Cost of 60,000 mile tune up

That sounds like the throttle body Definitely, and when I was at the dealership they told me that my VIN wasn't coming up as eligible for the throttle body replacement and they would have to charge me extra to look into it. Another reason I didn't trust their judgement. But at the very least I will...

Re: Cost of 60,000 mile tune up

Thanks for all the info. That's about what I paid as well. I was informed that I needed a motor mount replaced but declined to have it done by the dealership because they were overpriced and not very trustworthy imo. But here's a discouraging update. Only a week after having the service done we were...

Re: Cost of 60,000 mile tune up

That looks like it was tailored for Dodge, not Ford. Regardless, check your owners manual which doesn't call for some things like the spark plugs to be replaced until 100K. Changing them early, if they are working properly, is like throwing money away. Also, the Freestyle does not have "ignition ca...

Re: Throttle Body & Transmission Question

1...if its just a a one time event, it will wipe off if it does not repeat itself.......if the issue is real and repeats itself, it will trip ON the CEL light eventually. 2...cleaning is great, but if the other option is a warranty replacement, then that's far better. 3...H.P. filter replacement is...

Re: Throttle Body & Transmission Question

....when I turned the car back on and put it in R the car lurched and the wrench came on..... PANIC! when that wrench came on, the PCM will have either a "Pending" or a "Permanent" Code saved....you could try checking to see what the code is with a Code Reader to see exactly what the wrench is poin...

Throttle Body & Transmission Question

My 06 FS has 59,000 miles on it. Yesterday we got back from a 100 mile/2 hour road trip no issues. Turned off the car, dropped off the family and when I turned the car back on and put it in R the car lurched and the wrench came on. PANIC! Turned off the car, turned it back on, no wrench, went in and...

Traction Control Light

My traction control light has been coming on periodically and staying on. Once I turn the car off the light goes off and will not immediately come back on. Sometimes I will go several trips without the light coming back on. Any ideas before I take it to the mechanic? Thanks.

Re: Just bought an '06 SEL, and loving it.

My wife is sick and tired of me telling her how great the FS handles in the snow and ice! But I've been so impressed this winter, really happy with my semi-recent purchase as well!

Re: 6055.8 mile trip and some statistics

I do 99% city driving in NYC and my MPG is terrible! Over the one month that I've owned the vehicle (extremely small sample size) I'm getting around 11 mpg in my 06 FS AWD. In a couple of weeks I'll be driving the family from NYC to Chicago. I'm really curious to see how the MPG differs on the high...
