Re: High Gas Mileage (That's good, Right?)

I live in a pretty rural environment these days with a lot of 45-60 mph driving and very few lights and stop signs and I can't seem to get my average above 20 mpg per tank. That said when I was driving in Brooklyn, tons of stop and go, I was getting between 11-12 mpg.

Re: Throttle body cleaning procedure

I just to send a huge thank you to members of this community. I've never even attempted anything resembling a mechanical repair to any vehicle I've ever owned. Replacing windshield wipers was about as technical as I would get. This thread and the support of the community gave me the confidence to at...

Re: Throttle Body or Something Else?

Great suggestion, thank you. I cleaned the TB myself over the weekend and I'm now convinced that there is no way it was properly cleaned when I had it done at the mechanic. The TB was very dirty with deposits but after cleaning and reprogramming it feels like a new car. The OBD scanner has been on m...

Re: Throttle Body or Something Else?

Thanks for the input! Any way to tell if it's worn other than replacing it and seeing if the problem is solved?

Throttle Body or Something Else?

Symptom 1 When I start my '06 FS after it's been sitting for several hours it will occasionally go into safe mode (wrench light/very low RPM). That can be resolved by turning the engine off and back on again. Symptom 2 I press on the gas pedal but get little or delayed response especially when the ...

Re: Rubber switch under gas pedal?

I just discovered this (by accident) recently as well. Such a weird feature, all this time I had no idea that my fs actually had some pick up to it

Re: Roof rack and basket recommendations?

From what I understand there was a ford accessory option, but it is long discontinued. Thule makes almost all manufacturer's cross bars and baskets. Thule is a very nice high quality brand. However, quality comes with a price. I have been mulling over these or similar bars off ebay: http://www.ebay...

Re: 2005 Freestyle Haldex problems

UPDATE
Picked the car up a week ago. The financial damage was $900 for the new pump, sensor, fluid replacement, etc. So far the car is now running great and the TC light has not come back on (knocking on wood).

Re: 2005 Freestyle Haldex problems

Thanks so much Todd, this was really helpful. I'll inquire why he is estimating a 3 hour fix when your results where much quicker. I also assume he tried hooking up a 12v power source to the pump but I'll ask about that and mention the fuse as well. Thank you, I'll post the results.

Re: 2006 Freestyle Haldex problems

Just brought my car into my trusted mechanic who ran the code because my AWD light was on and came back P1889. He said he pulled the pump and it doesn't have power so he is looking to order the kit which is going to run me $450 plus he's quoting 3 hours of labor. He also said that there's an off cha...

Re: 2007 Freestyle Recent "Helicopter" in Park advice....

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to have it dropped and change those items and hope for best. Where can I order all these items? What website? Do I need to order gaskets? If so which ones I just want a list of all the things I should have on hand for the mechanic before he cracks it open... You guys ...
