How do I replace a Taurus X headlight assembly?
Something hit it at speed and the outside has only a moderate crack low down, but the insides are shattered. Ordered a replacement but it seems WAAAAAY harder to remove the assembly than it needs to be. Has anyone down one of these yet? It shouldn't be necessary to remove the whole radiator support ...

Re: Taurus X owners with high miles speak up! :-)
There are no TSB's or TCM flashes related to the issue her tranny is having. Can you give a little more detail on the tranny issue? When driving between 45-65 in overdrive if you start to go up an incline the vehicle randomly jerks until you either give it more gas to make it downshift or turn off ...

Re: Taurus X owners with high miles speak up! :-)
Also if you transmission starts to "buck" at 45mph or 70kmh especially when you go on an incline don t think the transmission is dead, its the sign that you have to change spark plugs ( they starts to mis ) This is an interesting theory. If the engine is misfiring, normally that would set off the c...

Re: Noisey rear hubs anyone?
Yes, not uncommon. I already had to replace my left rear hub at about 90,000 miles and now at 122,000 my right rear is on its way out.

Regardless, that's what it was and that is no longer the issue here.

Continued Transmission issues
I had the Output Speed Sensor issue described elsewhere in another thread, with loss of power and grinding. Restart usually cleared the problem. Had the dealer replace OSS and that particular problem has not reoccured. Not too long after we got the car back, the transmission began having shifting is...

Re: Power liftgate failed
Update: I pulled the liftgate fuse (#14 in the fuse panel under the dash) for 20 seconds to activate the liftgate reinitialization process. After I replaced the fuse, the lift gate started working, but not correctly. It now opens when commanded by the button, so obviously the motor is not bad. But a...

Power liftgate failed
Will not go up when commanded from any of the three normal buttons (dash, remote, under gate handle). Can be lifted up manually, but falls down quickly when you let go of it. In the week before it failed, it was making a few odd clicking noises as it opened and shut. When you push the open button, n...

Re: no a/c and fans stuck on high...help!
I don't know for sure, but I assume that the fans run based on inputs from either a coolant temp sensor or perhaps from a signal from the A/C that the A/C is on. Could your coolant temp sensor have failed in a way that it is signaling "very hot coolant"? Or, is there a switch in the A/C system that ...

Re: Daughters 08 taurus x 4 coils bad
Unless you know of a way to test the coils, it seems to me that replacing 4 coils is a pretty easy way to troubleshoot. You could even get used ones from a junkyard for the test.

Re: Twin Turbo Conversion on my Taurus X AWD Eddie Bauer Edi
Lots of people do lots of things, and no one is saying it can't be done. But most engine swaps happen in older vehicles. An LS-1 into an RX-7 is so common that you can buy a kit with instructions to do it. Nobody swaps engines into Freestyles or Taurus X's because they just aren't that desirable of ...
