Re: 2008 Taurus X Engine Rattle

If you own a smart phone, you can get a code reader that is an App for your phone. You just have to purchase the dongle the attaches your phone to the car's OBDII port.

Re: Camber can't be adjusted to within spec

My 08 is FWD as well. Springs are factory and it has never had any accident damage in the rear. The unusual wear on the rear tires did not start until it reached about 120,000 miles on the odometer. Now that I know there are adjustments back there, I'll have them checked. Thanks.

Re: Camber can't be adjusted to within spec

Bumping this thread to see if others have had any rear camber issues. I have the opposite problem from "dmg." My T-Rex has too much rear positive camber. Outside edges of my rear tires are wearing prematurely. Is there, in fact, a factory camber adjustment for the rear wheels, or is the rear camber ...

Re: HOW TO Bypassing leaking factory trans cooler

Im thinking about buying a 93 F150 4x4 as a work truck. I live in alaska and my day to day truck is taking a beating. They are asking 500, but the trans is leaking. I think it might just be seals but I have never taken out a trans before. I am wondering what you guys think. Is it a good deal? And w...

Re: Questions for Long Road Trip and Suggestions for Preventative Maintenance

What you read is incorrect. Synthetic oil is no thinner or thicker than conventional oil. It comes in whatever weight you select, just like conventional oil. Switching to synthetic on a high mileage engine after having always used conventional oil has started some engines leaking because it cleaned ...

Re: Questions for Long Road Trip and Suggestions for Preventative Maintenance

23.5 mpg is excellent. I have never had mileage that high on any long trip. Synthetic oil is not "thinner" oil, it's just made from different base stocks. If you have been have good results with Royal Purple, I would not switch. It's an outstanding brand. Are you burning oil? Leaking oil? If you wan...

from my research I found that all I needed to do was recharge the A/C, which is what I did and it took care of the problem.
spend the $20 bucks and buy a recharging kit. easy fix.

That didn't help. Passenger side is still not cooling.

Passenger side A/C warm with new blend door?

Yesterday I noticed that the air out of the two passenger side dash vents was not really being chilled by the A/C, even though the driver's side and rear seat vents were pushing cold air. I would suspect a bad passenger blend door but we replaced the passenger blend door within the last year, after ...

Re: 2008 Ford Taurus X Transmission Issue

It does sound like the OSS issue. Repair costs vary tremendously, depending upon where you get the work done but it's not cheap. I wonder about taking it back to the place that did the first OSS replacement and seeing if they will cost share. Also note that the immediate drivability issue often clea...

Re: Questions for Long Road Trip and Suggestions for Preventative Maintenance

The squeaky brake pedal is a fairly common thing and if you search in this forum, somewhere there is a thread that addresses it. New fluid will not help.
