Re: Power door locks going crazy

Don't know about drying off, but getting wet could certainly be the issue. Water is a common cause of electrical problems in cars. The T-Rex is known to be leaky in certain areas. How long after you lock them do they unlock?

Re: Best jack? (not a scissor jack!)

Just because you are driving on a paved road does not mean you will have pavement to use the jack on, once you pull off the road to change a tire. Particularly if you pull far enough off the road to work safely and the bad tire is on the passenger side...

Re: Best jack? (not a scissor jack!)

If you're just changing a tire along the road somewhere, you do not want a trolley jack. You aren't likely to be stopped on pavement and they don't work well on anything but concrete. Even asphalt can be iffy, especially when it's hot. Those wheels are tiny and they sink into anything. Besides they ...

Re: Heat not Hot at idle

Coolant should not change temperature that quickly.

My guess is a vacuum problem in the flappers that control where the air comes from, or control the coolant going to the heat exchanger. At idle, there is more vacuum than when the engine is making power.

Have you read the thread suck to the top of this forum? Why bother? You will maybe get a year or two use out of them.

This is not possible. Assume you meant May 2008?

And what I've learned by reading this thread is not to bother trying to fix my heaters since it's unlikely to be worth the expense or effort.

Every car ever made has jacking points. Did you buy your Freestyle used, without the owner's Manual? They are shown in there.

Re: Oil Light comes on at cold start then goes away.

The filter on the T-Rex hangs upside-down when mounted, so it should not be draining its contents even if there was no anti-drainback valve installed in the filter.

Agree. Don't have the car towed anywhere until you pull the wheel, grab a flashlight, and have a look for your self.

Could also be a clogged condensate drain from the AC system. Should drain out under the car but if it backs up, it can drain into the car.

Re: Transmission troubles...get ready

No I don't think flushing it will help but you could give it a try. . To be clear, flushing a transmission that already has a problem is unlikely to help. However, changing (or flushing) the transmission fluid on a higher mileage transmission (75-100K) that is still working fine may help to keep it...

Re: What do I need to know?

Sunroof? Check for signs of moisture under the carpets. Make sure transmission shifts well in all circumstances, especially in around-town stop and go, decel/accel/decel situations. Heated seats? They always stop working.
