Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle limited slipping acceleration issue

Stormyme, the bluetooth devices like Bluedriver and FIXD use an app on your phone to give you the info. Ones like the x431 have the software in the unit and you read the info on the reader screen. So in that way they are not the same. A caution about the Bluetooth units that you plug into the OBDII ...

Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle limited slipping acceleration issue

There are code readers that only give you DTC's, and the ability to reset almost all of them. As the price goes up you can buy readers that will give you a short pre-stored explaination of what each fault code you get could mean, (that info is also easily found on the internet), and top of the line ...

Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle limited slipping acceleration issue

Im not sure if data is what will help narrow any problem down. Seems as if PCM data, ABS TT data, is just info on what those items current readouts are. I have a code reader, so I dont use the engineering mode much. I dont think the $9552 tells much. From memory, after getting into engeering mode, y...

Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle limited slipping acceleration issue

Come back with any trouble codes if any from a code reader or use the in vehicle engineering mode which will show DTC's in the info screen in the gauge cluster. Do a search for freestyle engineering mode if you cant get to a chain auto parts store to have them use their code reader at no charge.

Re: TC and ABS lights w/ brake pedal, not starting

The clicking butterfly chattering is after the throttle body snorkel is back in place and letting the ECU relearn the fuel tables by disconnecting the neg. battery cable and then turning the key on and let the PCM sweep the throttle body butterfly open/closed to find its full range. When the butterf...

Re: TC and ABS lights w/ brake pedal, not starting

If you have checked the connector on the TPS on the side of the throttle body, and with the car off, remove the intake snorkle off the throttle body and see if the butterfly is really stuck open. Do not try to move it by hand, if the TPS motor isnt trash already you can damage it by moving the butte...

Re: TC and ABS lights w/ brake pedal, not starting

No need for engineering mode now that you have a code reader. Strange things like no start might not all be related to one event. After driving over a ice ridge, hitting the bottom of the vehicle I would wonder that the ice ridge may have damaged a rubber brake line, giving the AB and TC light when ...

Re: TC and ABS lights w/ brake pedal, not starting

You can get basic DTC's, trouble codes, to appear in the info window in the instrument cluster. Have a way to write them down if any appear. Its called engineering mode. To do it, hold the trip reset shaft in the face of the cluster all the way in as you turn the key to the "on" position, no need to...

Re: need help! clicking noise 20 sec after start

A quick internet search found this, among many other links. Could be a rubbing harness. Find a local repair shop that can put the vehicle up on a lift and look for that, and dirty harness connectors? Are you someplace with snow and slop on the road?

This forum is for 2005-2007 year vehicles. Not the new version. I doubt anyone here has any experience with the newer version.

Re: AIR CONTROL VALVE( IAC)

It's integrated in the throttle body plastic housing. Clean the grime off the the throttle body butterfly and metal throat by removing the throttle body using the proper procedure, neg. battery cable disconnected, and using throttle body spray cleaner only, available at Walmart, etc. Having the batt...

Re: returning Coolant leaks despite repairs

Wrap a few layers of white paper towel around the suspected leak area to make sure thats where is leaking from, not just running from somewhere else and then dripping off. Check to see if anti freeze is on the center or edge of the paper towel in the morning. Turns out my leak was one of the clamps ...

Re: Should I buy?

I forgot to mention the spark plugs are on schedule to be replaced at 100K miles, if they havent been already. The plugs on the firewall side require the intake plenum to be removed first as it covers those plugs. Some owners have done the job themselves, getting the EGR valve off can be difficult, ...

Re: Should I buy?

The throttle body getting dirty and causing surging when in gear and lightly pressing the gas pedal was one issue. Cleaning it from time to time seems to fix it. There was a TSB on those vehicles to re-program the ECU and clean the throttle body all at the same time. Yours might have had that done o...

I got my dealership factory repair manuals from Ebay a few years ago. Bought each manual separately, as each one I wanted was listed at a price I wanted to pay.
